There was much going on at Fordcombe during our annual Book Week celebrations.
All pupils took part in drama workshops to create characters and a plot to weave into a story. At the end of the day everyone gathered to see where Paul had got to on his space adventure. He returned to Earth to find he had gained a parking ticket and his Mum was not happy!
Pupils were stopped in their tracks on Tuesday and challenged to read for 10 minutes every time they heard the bell ring! All children took part in the Book Swap and small groups of children looked for new places to sit and read around the school during the Book Safari.
Thanks to everyone that supplied cakes for the Book Week Cake Sale—your efforts raised close to £150 for books to put into book corners in classrooms.
It was great to see so many parents in school to watch the Book Character Parade. There were many characters represented and it was a lovely way to finish a really engaging and inspiring Book Week.
Pupils in the netball team took an early lead last Thursday afternoon against a visiting Hever side. The Fordcombe squad went behind in the third period before losing 8-6. Player of the match was Amber. Many thanks to those parents that came along to support.
Well done to the football team that took part in the recent competition over at Tonbridge on the 3G pitch. They played well, had a great time and looked the part in the new team kit.
Our new sport kit has arrived. It looks great and we can’t wait to see the children playing in it.
Many thanks to Prestige Plumbing for sponsoring sport at Fordcombe school.
Thanks to a donation from the Fordcombe Fete committee, the school was able to purchase new resources to support the teaching of Geography and History. Many thanks to all that attended or spent money at the fete—the new books both look and feel the part, giving the humanities real value at school.
The stunning 20 footer outside and the tree gracing our foyer, where both donated by Mitre Farm, our very local Christmas Tree Supplier.
Seven pupils from Elm class played basketball against other schools from Sevenoaks area on Monday. A great event with some impressive skills on show. Well done to those that took part for coming second in their pool.
All had a great time and learnt new skills in a new competition. We won some, drew some and lost some but all progressed with our hockey skills.
