About Fordcombe

Located just outside Tunbridge Wells, Fordcombe is an attractive rural village set in the heart of Kent, in southern England. Fordcombe is a happy, active and friendly village in the beautiful Weald of Kent and its organisations revolve around the Church, the School, the Chafford Arms Pub and the fabulous new Village Hall.
"My child has benefited massively with Fordcombe School being small as it is, a community where everyone knows everyone else and therefore have a sense of belonging, identity, stability and accountability."

Fordcombe School 1905

Fordcombe Primary School is proud to be a central part of this lovely community, collaborating in community activities and events and fundraising activities such as the Annual Village Fete, Farmers Market, Village Play Area, Quiz Nights, Christmas Fair and Summer Garden Party.

Children at Fordcombe School have opportunities to be involved with services at the Church, they collect for the Fordcombe Branch of the Royal British Legion through (through the poppy campaign) the School Choir regularly visits the local Care Home and Luncheon Club for the over 60s, performing songs they have learned for the entertainment of residents, and they performs at village events such as the Summer Garden Party.

The parents at Fordcombe are an eclectic group including those that work in the City, Actors, Teachers, TV Producers, Midwives through to the all-important stay at home parents, and most will be found chatting with other parents before and after the drop off and pick ups.

In a recent school survey 100% of parents and pupils of the school expressed that they felt part of the Fordcombe community.

"I intentionally chose Fordcombe because it was a small school and could offer a nurturing environment which my son has thrived in."

The roots of our school
Fordcombe was a voluntary aided, Church of England Primary School maintaining very close links with the Parish Church of St Peters, this has continued since becoming part of Tenax Trust in 2018. Our school has a strong Christian ethos and we believe in helping every child reach their potential by identifying and developing their individual strengths.

More about Tenax
In 2018 Fordcombe became a part of the Tenax multi-Academy Trust. Tenax is a Church of England Trust with strong links with the Rochester Diocese. One of the main reasons governors chose to align Fordcombe with this Trust was that their values and ethos are very closely aligned with our own. The relationship affords us a number of benefits, not least, the broader support from the Tenax Management team and the strong relationships with other schools in the trust which have benefitted all members in their work to continuously improve teaching, learning and outcomes for children.

For more information please view the Tenax website.

Governance
Schools rely upon Governing Boards to support improvement plans and ensure the school is delivering against them on multiple fronts. Our school in Fordcombe is administered by a strong board of parent and Tenax appointed Governors in liaison with the Diocese of Rochester and Kent County Council. Our Governing Body is supported by our partners and colleagues within TENAX and most recently have welcomed the Reverend Lisa Cornell of St Peters Fordcombe as a member of the Governing Body.
