The Parents‘ Guild (PG) at Fordcombe CEP School is a charitable organisation which exists to raise funds for the school through a variety of activities. It is run by a committee staffed with parent volunteers and membership is open to all parents.
Regular fundraisers include Treat Tuesdays (a cake stall), Frozen Fridays (lollies and ice-creams), second hand uniform sales, book fairs, cinema nights and disco’s for the children. The PG also organises a lovely family orientated Christmas Fair and events for parents (such as the Christmas Wreath making evening, accompanied by delicious mince pies and mulled wine!).
The PG arranges an Easter Egg Hunt and also asks Father Christmas to come to the school and visit each of the children just before Christmas. The teachers tend to know who has been naughty or nice! Some amazing bakers and organisers also set up a Mothers Day pop-up café in the school hall which is always a delicious success.
Last year’s fundraising allowed the purchase of picture books for the library and two interactive boards for Ash and Beech classes, these boards have made a significant impact on the teaching of the younger children at the school. For 2021/2022 the fundraising activities are in support of new kit for the the school's ICT Suite. |
As well as fundraising, the PG activities also result in fun for the children, parents and carers taking part, whilst bringing the wider Fordcombe community together. We are all very grateful to all involved.
