Our first project at art club this term was to design and make a ‘Koinobori’ kite inspired by Japanese Children’s Day on 5th May.
When parents hang a Koinobori flag they make a wish for children to be strong and healthy, and to lead happy lives. Koinobori are usually hung on a pole in family groups, with the dad at the top and youngest child at the bottom. Each fish has it’s own unique colour and pattern.
We set our creative art clubbers the task of designing their own carp kites with some fantastic results. We can’t wait to see what else they create this term.
