Message from the Headteacher

From the welcome you receive when you step through the front door (or by browsing through our website), we hope you gain the feeling that Fordcombe C of E Primary School is a friendly, open, vibrant school. Pupils are at the heart of things at Fordcombe, which is exactly how we like it.

The school is small by primary school standards and this means pupils are known to all staff and our pastoral care can be very personalised.

There are three buildings with classrooms situated in each, an Early Years classroom with direct access to an Early Years area, a large playground and an adjacent playing field which means if pupils can go outside for playtimes and lunchtimes, then they do.

We are a Church of England Primary School and have close links with the Parish Church of St Peter’s, situated a stone’s throw from the school. We visit the church as a whole school each term and welcome the Rector, Reverend Lisa Cornell, into our Acts of Worship every fortnight. We also take part in the monthly Family Service at St. Peter’s on the last Sunday of each month.

Our new curriculum, is something that we are extremely excited and proud of with the wealth of experiences on offer to pupils shining through in our most recent Ofsted inspection. As a staff, we have endeavored to create a rich and vibrant set of experiences that support learning in the classroom and helps support the development of the whole child. Our aim is when pupils leave us in Year 6 they have the skills, attributes and attitude to thrive in their chosen secondary school.

Fordcombe is a 'Good' school. Staff and governors work hard to ensure that all the pupils feel safe, valued and enjoy school with everyone involved in the school committed to ensuring that the school’s vision and values are felt and practiced on a daily basis; we are striving for academic excellence for all in an environment that nurtures and supports the development of each child as well-rounded, confident, resilient learners.

I am very fortunate to work with a dedicated, committed teaching staff and governing body who take change in their stride and embrace it as they aim to make learning an exciting experience for all. We hope this website piques your interest; if you would like to see more of what goes on, please do not hesitate to contact the school office.

I look forward to meeting you in the near future.
