KS2 Teacher Vacancy - September start
Fordcombe is a small school with a big heart. We believe that children growing as individuals is as important as growing academically. All our pupils have the opportunity to lead at school as they move into Year 5 and 6: this is something that we are passionate about. As a staff, we believe that experiential learning is key to success: we arrange many trips, external visitors and are always embarking on themed days and weeks. We set high standards for ourselves and for those in our care. Fordcombe School is a family.
We are looking for someone to join our close-knit team as a Year 5 and 6 teacher. We know that managing a mixed-age class at the top of the school may be daunting to some: we are looking for someone who will rise to this challenge and with the right level of support, care and time, grow into a teacher who can help us take our school vision forward.
The right person will have:

We are also committed to safeguarding those in our care – the successful candidate will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check and will be subject to thorough background checks.
We are a small, half-form entry primary school situated in the beautiful Kent countryside. The school hall is in the Victorian part of the building and most of the classrooms are in a newer purpose built extension. We have a great library space as we believe all children should have the opportunity to read widely and be reading for pleasure. We are small team that believes we should be doing ‘big school things’. Beyond the core curriculum, our current focus is music, French, PE and developing teacher expertise in computing. The focus has changed and evolved as each new member of staff has joined us bringing with them different passions and skills. If you want to feel that you are having a real impact as a class teacher and as a leader, then a small school such as Fordcombe really gives you the opportunity to make a difference.
We share our academic high expectations with all our staff, parents and young people: we work hard as a group so that all pupils achieve well. More than this, we believe a primary school should be a place where children start to learn who they are, start to learn who they want to be and start to learn how they are going to live their lives.
