Year 1 and Year 2 undertake Gamelan Workshops

Based on stories from the Ramayana, pupils in Year 2 visited Sevenoaks School on Thursday to participate in a drama and music workshop using Gamelan instruments from Indonesia. The sound of the gongs and bells is melodic, rhythmic and very distinctive. Everyone including the adults had a go at hitting the largest base gong in the room which seemed to make everything and everyone reverberate to its low, low pitch (making the sort of noise you could imagine setting needles furiously waggling on earthquake seismographs). Many thanks once again to Mrs Hendry and all the staff and Year 10 and 11 pupils that supported the workshop at Sevenoaks School, and the use of the minibus to transport pupils back and forth.
