Pupils Collaborate for Science

Pupils in Ash, Beech and Oak got the chance to take part in two science-based activities on Tuesday morning. The first, building towers with marshmallows and pasta, involved older pupils teaming up with pupils from the two younger classes to come up with the highest tower possible. The teamwork from all of those involved was great, with the pupils in Year 6 ensuring everyone was able to contribute and take part.

The second was an egg-drop, whereby pupils had to design a container to protect an egg as it fell from height. It was enlightening to see how pupils met this challenge with a minimum of materials. Creating parachutes seemed to be the popular choice, with some of the most successful examples protecting the egg from a drop of four metres or so.
