Pops, whizzes and bangs in Oak and Elm

Science expert, Mrs Finch, was in again on Thursday to undertake some very exciting science with the pupils in Key Stage 2. The properties of dry ice (solid carbon dioxide) make it a very fascinating subject for an afternoon’s science activity. With all safety precautions in place, pupils had the chance to see exactly what a solid at -78.5 degrees Celsius is capable of doing and watch as the solid sublimed (changed directly from a solid to a gas) when placed in room temperature.
