Oak class had a very special visitor, Shay D, a female rapper, DJ and spoken word artist who came to spend the afternoon with them. After giving a brief history of hip-hop music she encouraged the pupils to find their voices and take part in some vocal warm ups on the microphone.
Everyone really gave it 100% and joined in with the short raps and call and response games.
Then Shay D taught pupils how to play with rhyme and rhythm of language to create their own raps. Pupils all worked in groups, and the end result was a fantastic class rap about London, Fordcombe, Rusthall and Tunbridge Wells.
To finish the day Shay D performed a rap which was amazing. The whole class and Mrs Watling really enjoyed this experience.
