Mrs Watling in London to show off pupils work

Mrs Watling was up in London last week, meeting other English leaders at the Centre for Primary Literacy in Education, and showing what the pupils had done in creating their own books for others to read. Oak class pupils had had the chance to share their books with both Elm class and Beech class before Mrs Watling proudly took them to show off in London. The culmination of a course Mrs Watling has completed this year called the Power of Pictures, it aims to show teachers how picture books can be used to promote Literacy in children. If you’ve come across a picture book where the illustrations not only explain the text but also add to the story with details not contained in the text, you will know how special and multi-layered these books and how they can speak to different audiences with different messages.
