Forest School

This week at Forest School we learnt all about fire.

We learnt about the three vital ingredients a fire needs (heat, oxygen and fuel) and we learnt how to respect fire. Liz told us about how fire can be a really useful tool for many different activities, but that we needed to make sure we manage the risk and respect fire as it can also be dangerous.

The children had a go at lighting their own fires with cotton wool balls which we used as fuel for the main fire. We then toasted marshmallows on the fire and Liz talked to us about how we can use dry fuel in our environment to burn on the fire.
