Fordcombe’s Nativity Hoop - Peace

Every child in the school has helped create a Nativity Hoop to help decorate Rochester Cathedral.

We have taken the theme of the angel visiting Mary and the peace that was given to her through the Holy Spirit. When the angel visited Mary, she was very afraid but the angel said to her, ‘Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favour with God.’ (Luke 1:30). The angel also said, ‘The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you’. (Luke 1:35)

All the children chose to create an angel or a dove.

The dove is often the symbol for The Holy Spirit and for peace.

The angel’s visit brought peace to Mary when she was told she would give birth to Jesus, the Son of God.

The hoop is being delivered to Rochester Cathedral on 20th November and will be on display until 15th January 2018.

Please do go and see it hanging in the Cathedral.

Huge thanks goes to Sophie Dean for all her hard work in planning, helping children with making and stringing it all up.
