Fascinating yet gruesome!

This week, Oak class dissected owl pellets as part of their learning about life cycles, and inspired by reading the book 'Skellig'.

Once we got over our initial reservations, we were amazed and awestruck at the preservation of some of the tiny bones that we discovered. Some groups even found whole skulls of mice and rats intact. After we had dissected the pellet, we used bone guides to identify our finds. Finally, we displayed our finds and labelled them. A fantastic afternoon of inquiry and investigation.
