Elm and Oak classes welcome German pupils

KS2 children welcomed 2 German students, Tommy and Jannik, to their language lessons on Wednesday and swapped Francais for Deutsch for the afternoon.

We all learnt some greetings in German and how to say our name and age and where we live. It was a great ‘head start’ for those Year 6 pupils who will study German next year at Secondary school. Fordcombe children were fantastically warm and welcoming to our German visitors, asking lots of questions about school life and of course, football!

During our special lesson, children also had the chance to taste ‘Schwarzbrot’ and ‘Wurst’ and were really surprised to find out that Haribo sweets are, in fact, German. After school, Tommy and Jannik took part in the Stoolball club and were really pleased to learn a traditional English sport from our expert coaches.
