Book Week ended today with a parade of pupils dressed up as their favourite book character. We had Gandalf, Horrid Henry, Red Riding Hood, Alex Rider and the odd Wimpy Kid gracing the school grounds as pupils strutted their stuff along the catwalk.
The week included a range of activities: pupils undertook a book safari where they read with a partner in an unusual place around the school, a book swap where pupils could swap a book with another that had been donated, a design a library competition and the visiting book fair. The highlight of the week was a visit by the author Alan Durant who led an assembly with the whole school and then undertook workshops with all the pupils from each class: inspirational.
Many thanks must go to Mrs Watling who organised such a fantastic Book week at Fordcombe. Thanks must also go the Parents’ Guild who donated the money in order that Alan Durant could come in to work with all the children and learn what is needed to be a real writer.
