Beech class visit to Bough Beech Nature Reserve

The sun was shining for Beech class's visit to Bough Beech Nature Reserve on Monday.
The children underwent a few workshops which all focussed around our plant and gardens topic this term.

In the morning they did a pond dipping workshop which the children found very exciting. They learnt how to do the activity safely and how to explore the sample they had collected from the pond. Children used an identification sheet to work out what pond life they had collected.
After lunch children then went to the orchard and learnt about the stages of a plants life.
They engaged with a quiz and carried out a flower investigation in the meadow.
Finally the children walked to a large oak tree and enthusiastically explored minibeasts that live on and around the Oak tree. They collected their bugs and examined them carefully in magnifying pots.

A great day was had by all, thank you to the parents who helped.
